With the ever-changing fashion in today’s world it is getting more and more expensive to keep up with the Jones’. Our generation is completely based on their self-image and we rely on the opinion
of others. If a famous celebrity is seen wearing a certain t-shirt, then the
next day half of the nation will be out searching for that shirt, no matter what the price.
I am guilty of giving in to the fashion world and I always try to keep up with all the new trends. The question is why do I or anybody else do this? Some may say they do it to fit in, while others claim
it was the way they were raised, and a few would even say they do it because the clothes are better quality. I disagree that
these name brand articles are any better quality than some retail stores provide. For the most part all you are paying for
is the brand name not the quality. These companies shouldn’t be taking two hundred and fifty bills out of your pocket
for just one pair of jeans that have a simple design on the back pockets. These jeans don’t last forever. They last just as long as any other pair of jeans out there.
A good portion of the
mass produced items are very expensive, but cheap at the same time. Meaning they are poorly made and not the high quality
that they are advertised to be. I got a hundred dollar shirt one year for my birthday and worn it once before it fell apart
in the washer. I can understand someone paying a little extra for a handmade, high quality piece of clothing that will last
longer than any mass produced item, but that isn’t the case here.
In the end, clothes are clothes. They are part of our everyday life and are a necessity. Brand names clothes are luxury
clothes that our generation shouldn’t waste their money on. After all, ten years from now who is going to remember what
you wore everyday?

any better quality than some retail stores provide. For the most part all you are paying for is to walk around with a brand
name printed on the clothes, not the quality. The customers are more or less a walking advertisement. These companies shouldn’t
be taking two bills out of your pocket for just one pair of jeans that have a signature design on the back pockets, it’s
not like the jeans last forever. They last just as long as any other pair of
jeans out there.

I received a very expensive so-called designer shirt one year for my birthday that I wore once before it fell apart in the
wash. I can understand someone paying a little extra cash for a handmade, high quality piece of clothing that will last longer,
but many people take it to the extreme. Also, if anyone would pay attention to detail, the stitching on handmade items have
more precision and strength than any mass-produced item.
In the end, clothes are clothes. They are part of our everyday
life and are a necessity to survive in the world. Brand names clothes are luxury clothes that our generation shouldn’t
waste their money on. After all, ten years from now who is going to remember what you wore everyday?
